This course is for graduate students and professionals interested in water resources. We will explore the physical basis for water management to set the stage for addressing the social, economic, environmental, historical, and technical forces that have led to our current methods of water distribution, management, and policy in Colorado and around the world. A strong historical context will be used through the course. Colorado and the West will provide many examples for discussion; however, other areas of the US and the world will also be examined. Understanding the role of water in global conflict is critical for the 21st century and this important topic will be examined.
